Maryhaven

Maryhaven, founded in 1953, is Central Ohio's largest behavioural health provider, offering addiction treatment, detox, medication-assisted therapy and counselling across Columbus and five regional counties.

Maryhaven is the largest and most comprehensive provider of behavioural health services in Central Ohio, with a particular focus on addiction recovery for men, women and adolescents. Founded in 1953 as Mary's Haven by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd to serve women struggling with alcoholism, the organisation has since cared for more than 350,000 people and has operated in the region for over 70 years.

Its services span the full course of recovery. Inpatient addiction treatment and detoxification run around the clock at the main treatment centre and detoxification facility on Alum Creek in Columbus, complemented by 24/7 outpatient behavioural health care. Medication-assisted treatment draws on Methadone, Suboxone and Vivitrol. Individual, group and family counselling for both adolescents and adults is delivered using cognitive behavioural therapy and other evidence-based approaches, and a dedicated CARE Team offers continued encouragement and problem-solving for clients who are struggling or considering leaving treatment.

The footprint extends beyond Columbus. Maryhaven runs a women's residence and an Addiction Stabilization hospital on South High Street, and operates regional clinics serving Union, Delaware, Marion, Morrow and Crawford counties. The organisation works alongside 12-step programmes and peer-to-peer recovery groups, treating recovery as a collaborative process rather than an isolated one, and provides services at every stage of that process.
