CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health), based in Toronto, Ontario, is Canada's largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital. It combines clinical care, research and education, and is also regarded as one of the world's leading mental health research centres. Its work spans mental health research, addiction research, treatment innovation, prevention strategies and public policy advocacy at a national level.
Clinically, CAMH delivers care across more than 90 distinct clinical programs for patients of all ages and their families. Treatment is provided by inter-professional teams working along recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and culturally competent lines, with an emphasis on patient-centred practice. Four Research Institutes drive innovation in treatment approaches and prevention strategies for mental illness and addiction.
As a teaching hospital, CAMH trains the next generation of mental health professionals through inter-professional, patient-centred collaboration. It also leads social change initiatives that advocate for mental health awareness, work to reduce stigma and aim to influence public policy and improve access to care.
