The AI Policy Network
A bipartisan 501(c)(4) advocacy organisation advancing secure AI development through federal policy work on AI safety, reliability and AGI preparedness in Washington, D.C.
The AI Policy Network (AIPN) is a bipartisan, independent 501(c)(4) advocacy organisation that works on federal AI policy in the United States. Its stated aim is to advance secure AI development in the service of America's economic prosperity, technological leadership and national security. The organisation operates at the federal policy level, from Washington, D.C.
AIPN's work spans several technical domains: AI safety and security; AI policy and governance; the reliability and controllability of advanced AI systems; AI alignment with intended purposes; preparedness for artificial general intelligence; and assessment of emerging AI capabilities and risks. It produces technically-grounded policy perspectives designed to give policymakers a clear view of what advanced AI systems can do and where they may fail, with an emphasis on keeping such systems reliable, controllable and aligned with their intended purposes.
Alongside its research-facing work, the organisation engages directly with members of Congress, congressional staff, federal officials and the media. This includes promoting focused legislation and collaborative engagement with top AI talent, with the objective of informing proactive policymaking ahead of transformative AI capabilities. AIPN describes itself as evidence-based and mission-driven, working across party lines on issues of technological leadership and national security.
