TAR

Austin-based TAR builds off-grid modular renewable power plants for AI data centres, integrating hardware, robotics and dispatch software, with a target of gigawatt-scale deployment by 2028.

TAR (Transformative American Resources) is an energy infrastructure company based in Austin, Texas. Founded in 2026, it builds off-grid power plants for AI data centres - modular renewable energy systems intended to generate, store and deliver electricity without connection to the grid. The company describes its installations as the first of their kind, and targets gigawatt-scale power deployment by 2028.

Its engineering spans both hardware and software. On the hardware side, TAR designs racking systems and power electronics, and uses robotics for on-site construction. On the software side, it develops dispatch algorithms for managing energy delivery. The company is vertically integrated, taking on each stage of energy deployment in-house rather than outsourcing across the supply chain.

TAR raised a $120m Series A and was valued at $1bn as of September 2026. Revenue comes from long-term agreements and strategic partnerships with commercial and government clients; the company works directly with major compute providers. Its deployment activity covers the Midwest, Southwest and Southeast of the United States.

Technical work spans energy infrastructure, modular renewable energy systems, power electronics, racking, dispatch algorithms, construction robotics, and energy storage and distribution. Industry verticals include AI data centres, renewable and commercial energy, government energy contracts, and AI compute.
