St. John's Community Health

An independent Federally Qualified Health Center founded in 1964, providing medical, dental and behavioural health care plus social services to underserved communities in Southern California.

St. John's Community Health is an independent 501(c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center providing comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioural health care, together with social support services, to low-income and underserved communities in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. It treats patients regardless of income level, insurance status or documentation status, and does not deny care because of an inability to pay.

Founded in 1964 as a small volunteer-run clinic in a back building of St. John's Episcopal Church, the organisation has grown into a network of 20 health centres serving more than 100,000 patients a year. Three mobile clinics extend its reach beyond fixed sites, delivering care in the communities where patients live.

Alongside primary care, dentistry and behavioural health, the organisation runs social support programmes covering housing assistance, food, legal advocacy and outreach, addressing factors that shape health outside the clinic. Its stated core values are dignity, excellence, well-being and social justice, and care is delivered in a language-accessible format, with staff drawn from the communities served.

Technical areas of work span primary and dental care, behavioural health, community health centre operations, the integration of social support services, mobile health delivery and language-accessible care.
