Journey Beyond

Journey Beyond is an Australian experiential tourism group operating 20 travel brands across Australia and New Zealand, including rail expeditions, cruises, eco-lodges and attractions.

Journey Beyond is an experiential tourism group based in Adelaide, Australia. Founded in 1997, the year it was privatised, the company owns and operates 20 travel brands across Australia and New Zealand, spanning rail expeditions, luxury cruises, eco-lodges, wildlife encounters and tourist attractions. It employs 367 people and reported revenue of $28.3 million, welcoming hundreds of thousands of guests a year.

Rail travel is the oldest part of the business. The Ghan, Indian Pacific, Great Southern and The Overland operate across the Australian continent and, taken together, form part of a rail operation with more than 95 years of history that has carried millions of travellers. Other properties in the portfolio include cruises in the Whitsundays, the Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef eco-lodge in Western Australia, Melbourne Skydeck, and Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures in the Kimberley.

The company describes itself as a custodian of Australian travel experiences and curates its brands around guest experience. It runs a sustainability programme, Journey Lightly, intended to preserve the destinations in which it operates for future generations. Its geographic footprint extends from Adelaide, where it is headquartered, to coastal and outback locations across Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New Zealand.
