Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation

A Waterloo-based space and defence company developing dual-use technologies, including portable micro-nuclear reactors and deep-tech R&D for remote, Arctic and space applications.
Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation (CSMC) is a space and defence company founded in 2020 and headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario. It develops dual-use technologies intended for both civilian and military applications, with a particular focus on portable power for remote environments. Its work spans nuclear engineering, quantum technologies, robotics, nano-materials, electrochemistry, industrial automation and space systems.
The company operates through two wholly owned subsidiaries. CSMC Nuclear develops safe, portable micro-nuclear reactors, delivered as fleets, aimed at Canadian defence, Indigenous communities, space exploration and Arctic power needs. Its LEUNR (Low Enriched Uranium Nuclear Reactor) is an evolution of an iconic Canadian research reactor adapted for remote and commercial uses; a technology demonstration is targeted for 2029, with deployment at scale to follow. CSMC Labs serves as the research and commercialisation arm, developing deep-tech across the company's wider technical domains.
CSMC has secured $4.5 million in government investment from the Government of Canada through FedDev Ontario. Its stated operating priorities are safety, cost-efficiency and speed in reactor deployment. Markets served include defence, space exploration, energy and nuclear power, Indigenous community infrastructure, and remote and Arctic power.
