Bhumi
Bhumi is a non-profit that supports underserved children in India through school-based learning programmes, a two-year fellowship and city-level youth clubs, powered by volunteers and partners.
Bhumi is a non-profit organisation and platform working to improve education for underserved and vulnerable children in India. It connects young changemakers, volunteers, donors and corporate partners around educational equity, and operates through a grassroots, community-embedded model that works inside schools, shelter homes and surrounding communities.
The organisation runs three main programmes. The Bhumi Fellowship is a two-year intensive programme that places young leaders in schools to drive change from within. Youth Clubs, organised by city, focus on civic and social action at the grassroots. In-school learning transformation programmes run directly inside low-income schools and extend beyond the school gates into shelter homes and communities, reaching more than 70,000 children each year across 12 Indian cities.
Over more than ten years, Bhumi reports engaging over 100,000 volunteers and operating across more than 40 countries. Its stated 2035 ambition is to develop 400 change leaders and to reach over 3 million children across India. The organisation describes its approach as youth-led and volunteer-powered, with an emphasis on long-term systemic change rather than short-term intervention.
