BaptistCare NSW & ACT
A not-for-profit Christian care organisation providing aged care, home care, retirement living, community housing and crisis support services across NSW, the ACT and WA.
BaptistCare NSW & ACT is a purpose-led, not-for-profit Christian-based care organisation providing aged care, home care, retirement living, community housing and community support services across Australia. The organisation traces its origins to 1944, when Baptist women in Victoria raised £4,000 to open a home for elderly people in need. More than 80 years later, it supports more than 70,000 customers and employs around 12,000 staff, assisted by nearly 2,000 volunteers.
Its services include residential aged care homes offering around-the-clock care for elderly people; home care services that support independent living; retirement living villages for older Australians; and community housing. Through its HopeStreet programs, BaptistCare also addresses homelessness, domestic violence, food insecurity and counselling needs, including crisis support.
BaptistCare operates across New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia, with founding roots in Victoria. As a charitable organisation, it has no venture funding disclosed; its founding capital came from community fundraising. The organisation states that its Christian identity shapes its work, expressing the values of respect, compassion and excellence in the treatment of every person, and that it believes everyone deserves to live with purpose and connection.
