Alta Ares is a French defence technology company founded in 2024 and headquartered in Paris. It develops AI-powered air defence systems designed to counter low-cost autonomous aerial threats, combining software for real-time detection, tracking and terminal guidance with hardware effectors. The company was established by a founding team led by CEO Hadrien Canter, drawing on operational realities observed on the Ukrainian battlefield.
The firm's product line includes Black Bird, a turbojet-powered air defence interceptor, and X-Lock, a multirotor interceptor, both engineered to operate in contested, GNSS-denied environments and reported as combat-proven. Pixel Lock, its AI guidance system, provides real-time detection, tracking and terminal guidance and has reportedly doubled interception success rates in operational deployments. An ISTAR product suite and mission management software complete a unified platform architecture.
Alta Ares states that its systems are in active deployments across multiple operational theatres. The company serves defence customers, including NATO-aligned armed forces, with geographic presence spanning Europe, the Middle East and the United States. It has been named a leading innovator and recognised with a NATO innovation award.
